Ichos Percussion

Ichos Percussion was founded in 2013 with the intention of exploring and promoting the great classics of the percussion repertoire, alongside compositions by Italian authors, often written specifically for the ensemble. Following this artistic direction, their first recording project was released in 2022 by Da Vinci Publishing: Kinds Evolution reveals the ensemble’s profound desire to explore the variety and versatility of percussion instruments, while inviting listeners to experience their own musical evolution through works by John Cage, Paolo Ugoletti, and Davide Martiello. In particular, extensive research was conducted on instruments and timbres for Cage’s pieces to meet both traditional and contemporary standards.

Among the main engagements of past and upcoming seasons, are the inauguration of the IWB in Seoul, several appearances for the “Le Stelline” series promoted by the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, the established partnership with the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo for the “Donizetti Night”, a series of summer concerts dedicated to jazz repertoire featuring Paul Wertigo, performances at Monteverdi Tuscany, and prestigious debuts at the “Concerti a Villa Necchi” series (organized by the Società del Quartetto di Milano), at “Bologna Modern” under the auspices of Musica Insieme in Bologna and at Teatro Vittoria for the “Note tra noi” series of Unione Musicale in Turin.

The ensemble has made generational transition a fundamental characteristic: all members of the group are connected through mentor-student relationships, a relationship that allows for substantial continuity in artistic vision and performance practice.

In August 2025, the ensemble will debut in Japan, at the Italian Pavilion of EXPO Osaka.
