On Wednesday 14 October, at 10.30 pm, guitarist Luigi Attademo is a guest of Radio 3 Suite, in the programme La stanza della musica on Rai Radio 3. The broadcast comes live from Studio M of the Rai studios in via Asiago, Rome.
Attademo presents his project El Duende di García Lorca, devoted to the relationship between music and the poetry of Federico García Lorca, with music by Manuel de Falla.
From the Rai Radio 3 programme notes:
“The guitar, the emblematic icon of Iberian music, appears only intermittently in Lorca’s poetry. Not because Lorca was unfamiliar with the instrument, but because, like other symbols in his verse, it stands for a sacred medium, the place where the epiphany of sound takes place, the bearer of archaic truths. His encounter with the guitar became a vehicle for the sensations and experiences that feed his poetic and musical universe. These are the sounds of celebration, of dances in which ritual survives every attempt at formalisation — a ritual that evokes life and its opposite, strong feelings, universal and absolute, the ones that make us all equal. In the end, this is what most folk songs are about: love and death.”
