Vittorio Benaglia, a summer among Italian and Ticino festivals
From June to September, violist Vittorio Benaglia is engaged in a busy calendar of appointments between Switzerland, Veneto, Marche and Lombardy, including solo recitals, chamber formations and an artistic direction role.
After the summer preview on June 19 in Lugano, where Benaglia played in ensemble together with violinist Giuseppe Gibboni and guitarist Carlotta Dalia, on July 4 he was in Asolo, guest of the Gioie Musicali Festival, for Bach’s Goldberg Variations in transcription for string trio, together with violinist Ernesto Campagnaro and cellist Riccardo Baldizzi.
On July 16 he is at the Camerino Festival, in collaboration with Gioventù Musicale, for a chamber music program dedicated to the Piano Quintets by Dvořák and Schumann.
Three appointments at BlenioMusica follow, a festival where he has been among the regular guests as artist in residence for several years now: on July 21 with the Quartets by Dvořák and Mozart, on July 25 in a viola and piano recital with Susanna Braun (artistic director of the festival), with whom he will also perform on July 26 in Schumann’s Piano Quintet, sharing the stage also with Veriko Tchumburidze, Alessandra Doninelli and Izzy Howard.
On July 31 he is at the Garda Festival for a solo recital for viola alone, with a program that includes Bach, Telemann, Britten and Igudesman.
On August 15 he is at Schloss Engers, in Germany, for a viola and piano recital with Jacopo Giovannini, dedicated to Schumann, Clarke and Prokofiev, in collaboration with Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz.
In August, Vittorio Benaglia also oversees the artistic direction of the LdE Festival: the program includes collaboration with the Accademia Perosi (August 13), the Trio De Chirico with Elisa Matteucci, Cosimo Carovani and Giacomo Susani (August 16), a string trio (August 21), a violin and organ program (August 23) and the appointment with Giulia Rimonda (August 25). He takes the stage as performer on August 18, at the Church of San Bernardino in Ranzanico, in a violin and viola duo with Sofia Manvati, with music by Mozart, Rolla and Martinů.
Parma follows, where Benaglia is engaged from August 27 to 31 in a viola masterclass and, on August 29, in a viola and piano recital with music by Sitt and Schumann.
On September 10 he is at MaMu – Magazzino Musica, in Milan, in a viola and piano recital with Virginia Benini, with music by Schumann, Brahms and Bridge. The duo will then be engaged at the prestigious Premio Trio di Trieste, now in its twenty-third edition: the final phases of the competition, promoted by Chamber Music Trieste in collaboration with the Conservatorio Tartini and the Accademia Chigiana, take place from September 12 to 16.
A calendar that, for a still young musician, already testifies to artistic maturity and a network of high-level collaborations, which will continue with the coming autumn!
