On Sunday 9 August 2026, cellist Eckart Runge and pianist Jacques Ammon performed to great acclaim at the Reformed Church in Zweisimmen, as part of the chamber music series of the Menuhin Festival Gstaad 2026, in Switzerland, under the artistic direction of violinist Daniel Hope and among the most prestigious festivals in Europe.
The duo — represented by Mimesis Artist Management for Italy — performs together regularly, and had already given the closing concert of the Menuhin Festival at the Church of Saanen in the 2025 edition. To Zweisimmen they brought Generations, a programme spanning more than a century of music: from Beethoven’s Variations on a theme from Mozart’s Magic Flute, to Debussy’s Sonata for cello and piano, through to Ernest Bloch’s From Jewish Life. The duo went on to offer a series of arrangements signed by Runge & Ammon themselves: from Kurt Weill’s Ballad of Mack the Knife to Gershwin’s An American in Paris, by way of tangos by Villoldo, Gardel and Piazzolla (Le Grand Tango), on a path that wove together classical music, jazz and South American popular music with complete naturalness — in keeping with the duo’s identity, which embraces different genres without setting boundaries — winning over the audience.
