Pianist Sandro Nebieridze, 2nd Prize and Junior Jury Prize at the 2025 Busoni Competition, performs in Bolzano on August 21.
Sandro Nebieridze returns to Bolzano exactly one year after his success at the 65th Busoni Competition 2025, where he won 2nd Prize and the Junior Jury Prize. The pianist takes the stage on Friday, August 21 at 12:30 pm at Palazzo Mercantile in Bolzano, as part of the Bolzano Festival Bozen’s “Lunch Concert” series, dedicated to winners and rising talents from major international piano competitions affiliated with the World Federation of International Music Competitions.
The concert sits within a remarkably strong lineup: it follows Arcadi Volodos’s recital by just one day and comes shortly before the duo recital by Martha Argerich and Lilya Zilberstein, in a season that has already featured Grigory Sokolov and will soon welcome Igor Levit.
Nebieridze’s programme spans four centuries of music: Bach-Busoni’s Chorale Prelude No. 3, “Nun komm’ der Heiden Heiland” BWV 659, Rachmaninov’s Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42, his own composition Esquisses, and Mompou’s Variations on a Theme of Chopin.

Born in Tbilisi, Sandro Nebieridze has established himself internationally both as a pianist and as a composer, seamlessly combining a growing concert career with his creative work. A prizewinner at the 2025 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and recipient of the Steinway Förderpreis, he has performed with leading orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Dresden. Alongside his expanding concert activity, his catalogue as a composer continues to grow, ranging from chamber music to orchestral repertoire, from ballet to opera, with performances in prestigious venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie and the Dresdner Kulturpalast.
